Heard Music

The songs in The Underground Opera are
a little bit hard to hear, at first.

In the slippage of days, long run on the stage, moms’
minor key melodies and those of their raggle-tag
kids jostle with horns through thin walls, the jangle of
fast-moving cars, the clamour of claptrap critics.

But the hero’s words are clear:
his song splits open the air.
